Did anyone else read The Gun by CJ Chivers? The military industrial complex sent US troops into Vietnam with sub standard rifles and replaced them with the highly problematic M-16. Meanwhile the communists were gleefully spitting out lead from the AK-47 and it’s cousins and brothers that had been hidden under rocks and in rivers and shit. They just worked.
