Next week De La Soul will independently issue its first song and video since 2004, “Get Away (feat. the spirit of Wu-Tang),” in the first of the group’s planned series of monthly single releases, through YouTube and social media. “I think putting out those singles would be more impressionable than dropping an album at this present day in music,” Maseo, De La Soul’s DJ, explained, adding that the group will eventually release a long-in-the-works album, You’re Welcome.
