Nearly one year ago at The Warfield.

This was what Pulp opened their show with and it was absolutely incredible.

My heart still beats faster when I so much as think about that show.

I wish everyone could have been there. I wish I could be there again. It was absolutely fantastic.

Imagine, waiting 20 years to see Pulp live. The house goes dark, the audience roars, the electricity of excitement floods the theater and then… Silence, darkness, and these words appear on the scrim, “Do you remember the first time?”

The music starts in the darkness and as it swells, the lights come slowly up on the band, everyone tentatively sings along with they lyrics, carefully, like their feeling their way through a familiar but long forgotten place and then, as the chorus explodes outward, the theater erupts with music, these words, and the joy and delight of finally meeting this long lost friend.

Screaming and laughing like a mad fan. Swooning, head spinning. Bouncing, dancing, and belting out these songs with 2000 other people with pools of joyful tears in my eyes alongside my two best friends, my wife and Drew.

I take Pulp pretty seriously.
