Since we last spoke.

Hans and Karista got married yesterday. The Strangelet and I got serious props for literally shoving the two of them together until they figured out that we were setting them up. They eventually figured it out and now they are married, so I’ll put that in the “Win” / “I’m always right” category.

I quit my job. I have a new job and we shall see how that goes. Being Theater Operations Manager in an academic environment is really easy if there isn’t any kind of academic administration to deal with. Sadly, there is an academic administration to deal with. Maybe they will listen to someone who gets theater, maybe they won’t. It also doesn’t help that the place is very, very, very expensive to operate for a building with only 9 classrooms and two theaters. Which is another problem for academic institutions, we got the money and built it… and holy shit is this place expensive to just keep the lights on.

So they’re faced with the standard academic problem. This place is for students so we need to better fund the departments that work within the building to showcase the capabilities of said facility in order to gain more students and build these programs.

Damn, this shit is expensive. We need to offset costs by renting out the facility as much as humanly possible but, academic events take priority over the schedule so we can’t book all these outside events. Damn is it expensive to have all the lights on for these internal events where we generate no actual revenue. Why aren’t we doing more outside events? You need to get more events booked in here to offset the cost of keeping all these lights on.

This building is only three years old, what do you mean that broke? Why are the seats coming loose from the floor? Why is all the automation in need calibration and repair? Why are all the lights burning out? How could lamps possibly be that expensive?

The proverbial snake eating its own tail.
