Had just enough time between appointments to duck into On Kawara yesterday. As 20 Day Stranger comes to final phases of build, it’s nice to be reminded of everything and everyone that were in our minds when we conceived it. For whatever reason - perhaps the guggenheim isn’t the right setting - Kawara’s work didn’t move me on a hurried visit. But what it meant to me when I first learned about it would be hard to overstate. It’s strange work to see in an age of endless and effortless reproduction and duplication, but it still does what it always did: remind you to be here today, wherever that is. (at Solomon R.
