No, Bike Lanes Don't Hurt Retail Business

No, Bike Lanes Don't Hurt Retail Business:

We heard in Seattle that the city actually makes it difficult and expensive to have a car, beyond the typical big city complications.

In this way it actually forces people to find other modes of transportation an to use them. Public transit, bicycles, yo damn feet, carpooling, car sharing, etc.

I’d never thought of that. Make the mere expense of using your car more painful than an alternate mode of transportation such as the use of a bicycle or public transit. Which means ridership is way up and transit systems are busy and useful.

This would never work in St. Louis because 1) no one cares 2) they live way the fuck out in the sticks in shitty Home Depot furnished cracker boxes and 3) public transit, as far as the average STLer is concerned, is for poor people 4) STL is full of old people, honestly, it’s crazy. They want nothing to do with bicycles.

That’s a stigma that is hard to erase.
