Kate Richards O’Hare was a nationally known socialist reformer who lived in St. Louis from 1911-1919. She was the editor of “National Rip-Saw” a local socialist monthly paper published here, was an advocate for women’s suffrage, fought to improve poor working women’s living and economic conditions, and advocated for penal reform. She also went to jail for protesting American involvement in WW I. (x)
